2006: less milk supplied to dairies
In 2006, German milk producers supplied 1.9 % less milk to German dairies than in the previous year. At 27.14 million tonnes, the total quantity of milk was the lowest since 2002. The 0.5 % quota increase on 1st April 2006 did nothing to stimulate milk production.

2006 – a "creamy” year
In 2006, cream production in Germany was also extended. When the weather was good, cream and cream products sold well within Germany, and there was interest from other countries too. A total of 560,000 tonnes of cream products was produced, which was 1.5 % more than in 2005, despite negative indicators from agricultural policy.
